1 December 1882 , The stadslijnen or SJS's inner-city tram line with the Semarang (Centraal Jurnatan) - Djomblang line segment, with a total track length of 4.4 kilometres, was inaugurated and began operating.
Date of the inauguration of the SJS inner-city lines/ stadslinjen:
12 March 1883 - The 3-kilometre-long Semarang (Centraal Jurnatan) - Bulu and 1-kilometre-long Semarang (Central Jurnatan) - Samarang NISM Spoorlan Station (Kemijen) lines were officially opened and started operating.
2 June 1883 - The Semarang (Centraal Jurnatan)- Kleine Boom (Sleko) line with a total track length of 2.5 kilometres is in operation.
4 November 1899 - The 0.8 Kilometre or 800 metre Bulu - Banjir Kanal Line is officially opened and begins operation.
Date of inauguration of main lines / buitenlijnen SJS:
2 June 1883 - Along with the inauguration of the inner-city line; Centraal Jurnatan - Kleine Boom (Sleko), part of the main Semarang - Demak line was also inaugurated with the 6.1 Kilometre Jurnatan - Genuk segment.
27 September 1883 - Part of the Semarang - Demak Line; the 19.7 kilometre Genuk - Demak Line is inaugurated and begins operation.
15 March 1884 - The 26.4-kilometre Demak - Kudus main line is inaugurated and begins operation.
18 April - 19 April 1884 - The Kudus - Juwana main line with a 21.2-kilometre segment of the Kudus - Pati line; and the 23.2-kilometre Pati - Juwana line were inaugurated and began in service.
Gradually, by 1900, the Semarang-Joana main line was joined by the Kudus-Majong-Petjangaan, Demak-Wirosari-Blora, Wirosari-Kradenan, Koana-Tajoe, and Majong-Welahan lines.
The Poerwodadi-Goendih tram line, built in 1884, passed into the ownership of Semarang-Joana Stoomtram Maatschappij in 1892, and the Joana-Lasem (1900) and Rembang-Tjepoe (1902) lines were added to the SJS network. By 1 February 1903, the company (Semarang-Joana Stoomtram Maatschappij) had operated a rail network of 389 kilometres in total.
Previous sequence of events:
1879 - Precisely on 1 December 1879, J. F. Dijkman, W. Walker, and G. H. Baron Clifford filed a joint petition from The Hague recommending the restriction of permits for the operation of a 0.914 M long steam tramway from Semarang via Demak, Kudus, and Pati to Juwana.
18 March 1881 - J. F. Dijkman, W. Walker and G. H. Baron Clifford were granted a licence to build and operate a steam tramway between Semarang, Demak, Kudus, Pati and Joana, which was later transferred to the Semarang-Joana Stoomtram Maatshcappij in the same year.
