Fuelled by the revolutionary spirit and anti-feudalism, Daendels, who yearned for bureaucratic efficiency then he disbanded the North East Coast Provincial Government.
Daendels also built a postal road (probably begun in 1808) connecting Anyer on the western tip of Java with Panarukan on the eastern tip of Java via Semarang. One part of the post road was the Bojongsche weg or Jalan Bojong (now Jl. Pemuda).
